The Current event makes me smile since it kind of confirms a headcanon I had that the Great Seven have animated movies based on them. Makes me wonder about the plot of the movies
Disney should get on the Twisted Wonderland AU Animated Remakes. What is Ursula was a good witch, what if Scar was right to take the throne and did he take it from Mufasa? (Or whoever is the stand in for him)
The Evil/Beautiful Queen...actually GOOD?
Tumblr media
Yeah, it makes sense! Since the Great Seven are historical figures and the stuff of legends, surely there would be popular media made in their image. It’s like how the Disney fairy tales borrow from stories in the public domain or how there are historical retellings and reinventions (Hamilton, anyone?).
I believe TWST has mentioned films based on their own stories and history before too, but purely in the animated sense rather than live action. In book 3, Ace and one of the Atlantica Museum guards talk about an animated movie based on the tale of the mermaid princess and her prince; this movie is said to have come out ~30 years ago, which corresponds with Disney’s animated The Little Mermaid. Ace compliments the movie’s soundtrack too way to stroke your own ego, Disney/j.
Later on in Tapis Rouge, the characters discuss other films based on the Great Seven, including one Queen of Hearts movie. A Sea Witch movie is also mentioned; in it, she “goes gigantic” and also sings as she brews potions. The Octatrio quite enjoy this particular film.
(Side note: Another anon once suggested to me that people probably also write fanfics of Neige and Vil since they’re celebrities… Think like “My mom sold me to One Direction?!” Wattpad kinds of fics, but replace One Direction with Vil or something. You can read those post here!)
It’s… interesting this event specifically has Vil promoting a live action adaption of an in-universe animated film about the Beautiful Queen—an animated film which was the first full-color animated movie AND it originally released close to 90 years ago. They also reference the funding issues that Disney suffered while producing Snow White + inviting bank employees in to preview the movie to acquire more investments, stating that the studio that made the animated Beautiful Queen experienced the same. The in-game live action is even slated to come out “NEXT YEAR”. They’re not being subtle here with TWST’s references to their own version of the irl Disney Snow White (the live action is coming out in 2025, the OG is also almost 90 years old, etc.). I wonder if the EN server will actually get Tapis Rouge around the time of the irl release of Disney’s live action Snow White as part of a promotional campaign? 😂
UPDATE: There are even more not-so-subtle references to Disney animations in part 4 of the event, including discussion of cel animation, rotoscoping, adding blush to the characters, and how Disney brought in real animals/observed the “real thing” to help with animating similar scenes or subjects. They also cheekily say that most animation nowadays is CG 💀
I know some books under Disney publishing try to show alternate tellings or show the villains in a more sympathetic light, but I don’t know that they would ever commit to fully animating a film like that. It definitely would not happen in the style of traditional animation, Disney no longer seems well-equipped to handle that task 😔 I feel like it would also be pretty niche or might not get overwhelming positive reception with recent audience calls for “true bad guys” instead of twist or sympathetic villains (though I’m not sure what percentage of people watching Disney actually have this opinion).
I do wonder how those “AU” films would work though…? It wouldn’t be as simple as suddenly turning the G7 into “good guys”. The scenario and other characters would also have to drastically change. TWST doesn’t necessarily make the original “good guys” “bad” in a world where the villains are historical figures; we still hear plenty of positive or neutral stories about the achievements of the mermaid princess and other Disney heroes.
There are also times when the same story diverges into multiple separate stories that seemingly have no connection to one another. For example, there is a story where a princess marries a street rat (clearly referencing Aladdin) and they live happily ever after in spite of the difference in their social statuses. However, there simultaneously exists a story in which the Sorcerer of the Sands saves a princess from being deceived by a fake prince (also referencing Aladdin). The same goes for the mermaid princess (Ariel)—there is both a story referring to a “mermaid princess” who married a human prince and also a different story (clearly still pulled from the same film) about a mermaid who made a deal with the Sea Witch to find true love but broke her contract in the end.
Very cool idea, just not sure where it would lead or it it’s feasible or worth it monetarily for Disney.

More things I noticed in Nimona because I got boredin.
Nimona Spoilers!
Diamonds seem to be a recurring form when it comes to the Institute, which we see most when in the Director's office. There's a line of diamonds that goes from the top to the bottom of her dress. The windows are diamonds. There's a diamond at the tip of her staff. There's a diamond sculpture thingy on her desk. There's a line of diamonds on the side of her desk. Ambrosius also has a a lot of diamonds on his armor. The button the Director presses to open the secret drawer is part of a line of diamonds. The Director's eye shine is a diamond, and so is Bal's when he's about to be knighted, about to become an official part of the Institute, only to have that taken away from him.
I hear a lot of people say that they don't understand why Bal didn't post the whole video, but we have to take in consideration here: When he and Nimona thought up that plan, in no way did they think that the Director would actually try to kill Ambrosius. And, also, Nimona-Ambrosius and Ambrosius both enter the office by saying the same thing "We need to talk". Bal probably spent hours telling them how Ambrosius acted just to fool the Director. Just imagine: you see someone who looks and acts exactly like the one you love get stabbed out of absolutely nowhere. You know it's not them, but there's still that small second of "What the fuck my lover is getting stabbed!" I doubt he was able to keep the camera still through all that. I saw another post talk about it, and I can't find it, but yeah.
Also, back to Ambrosius' armor, I was able to count three lion faces on it. One on the front of his chestplate, and one of each of his shoulder protector thingys (I don't know the name of it)
Sure, when Nimona-Ambrosius destroys everything in the Director's office, it's funny, but they also foreshadow one more thing; destroying the wall. Also, they remove Gloreth's statue at the same time, and, at the end, when Bal is looking over the kingdom, we don't see the statue in question anywhere, which could maybe insinuate that they actually did canonically took it down? I may be looking into this too much, but it's fun to think that's what it might mean.
The sight Bal uploads the video is called "TheCrier". Also, when he uploads it, on the screen behind the computer, you can see he was previously ordering a pizza.
Bal's username is BalliSTAR12 and honestly I'm surprised no one in the kingdom thought to question why this man even had a video of this. That is if they even realized that it was him because let's be honest, the people of the realm are oblivious to a lot of stuff throughout the movie.
For a brief second, you can see that the username of one of the people who commented is "Rising_Pho3nis_23" and that just makes me realize how much foreshadowing these people included throughout the whole movie.
We see at some point that the first riot at the Institute was filmed when, at 57:59, in the recommended videos someone is watching, the top one is "Rhino runs riot at the Institute"
"I just want to be your friend. Is it ever gonna be enough?" Those are the only lyrics I was able to catch from the dance sequence, but those hit hard when you realize that Nimona is really just looking for a friend. And also that even with Nimona and Bal's efforts to prove that the Institute is bad, there efforts weren't enough (because the Director just turns the blame on them again)
When Nimona-Director is on the other side of the door with the pizza, their eyes do the reflection thing with the lighting.
During the scene where we see the civilians gathered in front of the Institute and yelling things like "Liar" and holding up sign that say "Villain" and "Liar" we see the statue of Gloreth standing in front of all of them bathed in red light, and it's almost like all of those things are being yelled at her.
"Zombies are immortal eternal beings. There's no way to kill them." "But what if they come for us?" *Attacks the zombies* Funny how fear drives them attack first, just like fear drove the villagers to attack Nimona first.
When the Director tries to warn everyone of Nimona, the "monster", she accidentally puts everyone against everyone, and, as we see in the pub, everyone starts to mistrust the people around them.
I have a theory as to why Nimona was painted as child in the scroll: It was to serve as a warning. It was to show that this "monster" could try to manipulate you into thinking it was harmless by becoming something that doesn't pose much of a threat: a child.
Nimona saying "I have not slept like that in forever." Who else thinks it's because they used to always have their guard up and was always a light sleeper in case they needed to flee quickly? Like, they didn't want to put themselves in a vulnerable position too long so they got used to getting maybe one or two hours of sleep every now and then.
I'll stop there for now. Might make more if y'all like this!

So I just watched rise of red and really, I don't see anything happened, and what prank are they talking about???? 3/4 of the cast are just useless as Aladdin and Jasmine doesn't serve no purpose in the movie and I didn't see qoh hearts apologized to her daughter for abusing her for all those years....why just why????
Its funny we had an issue with D3 and not using a large chunk of their cast that well...when in comparison to Rise of Red, it at least did SOMETHING with the characters, while Rise of Red was out here having literal character introduction the song with characters who overall, don't do anything in the film. Fairy Godmother? She MAYBE has a hint at not being good at magic yet arc, but she don't do anything in film. Jasmine and Aladdin? They that couple from school everyone found cringe and that's all they are, not even being named in present day or the boy they have with them, you just have to assume its them and...I guess make up a name for the boy who you have to assume is their son. Rapunzel isn't named either actually in the past, you just know its her as she stands out with her rainbow hair and she's just there. Charming is pretty fucking useless both past and present, he's just there- though he at least had the most emotional scene when being told Cinderella is dead in present.
Uliana is the only villain who does ANYTHING really, the other villains feel like they just there to be there really. Hades' I will admit I found funny for not giving much of a shit at times, but he's pretty useless, same for Maleficent. Seriously, she's out here shaming Mal in D1 for not doing more at sixteen in comparison to Maleficent, but girl wasn't doing much as a teen, if at all. Generally think she and Hades were just there to nod at Mal lmao. Hook is also just, useless, closest stuff he does is I guess act a ltitle flirty and get his boots stolen at the end. And don't get me started on the king of being useless, aka Morgie- my guy couldn't even suggest ANYTHING in Perfect Revenge, at least the other three could suggest making Bridget walk a plank or pricking her with thorns or burning her to a crisp, all Morgie did was agree with Hades'. He also proved to be the most useless look out in the finale scene.
Even in the main cast you got a character who the writers don't do much with, aka Cinderella/Ella- she literally dies in present briefly after refusing to kneel to QOH (again shout out to Red for joining in on that setencing, film doesn't seem to remember that one to at least show Red feeling guilty....because fuck character development) and in the past, she's just there to a, support Bridget and b, shame Chloe, the films favorite hobby. Her abuse via her stepmother is literally introduced and...that's it. Nothing done at all. You literally could have replaced the Charming family in this film with any other heroes and their family.
And like, I literally don't know what the fuck they were doing with the prank, because how the fuck did they pull it off in the first timeline if the book does THAT to people with evil intentions??? Was it a different prank in first timeline or- this prank plot just left way too many questions, really. And people can call me a bitch but like, making QOH evil over a prank is just the most pathetic motive for a villain yet. They say people laughed at her for it but let's be real, school would be laughing at someone else the next week. There had to be more to what turned her evil then just, "she ate a cupcake that turned her ugly."
And the ending with not even addressing Queen of Hearts having been a shitty mother....just...way to join D3 in being so shit at addressing abuse. Like, they have Red literally confirm how shit her mom is. We saw it on screen even at the start of the film. Yet, just like Ella and her step family's abuse, it's dropped eventually and not addressed. Film just acts like since she's good now with the prank removed from timeline, everything is good now. QOH is not made to face what she did to Red. It's just forgotten and that's it. Hell, the way the film just waved off all the abuse with, "She wasn't always like that."/"An incident pissed her off.", is just such shitty excuses for abuse, I swear.
Why is just an accurate reaction to even watching this film. I mean, we all know the why is because they wanted to milk this dead franchise. But the film is still just such a why even with that answer in mind.

I watched the interview with Zag and Aton Soumache (he's the executive producer for ML and honorary president of Mediavan) and took some notes. I'm not going to retell the whole interview here, only certain parts, you can watch it on your own if you wish (it's an hour long).
It bugged me a bit that it's called "Meet the creators of Miraculous" even though Astruc wasn't there and Aton is more on the business side, from what I understand. But anyway.
The interviewer asks Zag about how they developed this universe, and Zag talks about how the market at the time was against girl power and it was hard to sell, but ultimately "the world embraced the vision and it became what it is today". He also says: "we didn't just want to produce just content, we wanted to launch a brand". To make it huge, one of them had to go to US, so Jeremy went, and Aton stayed in France. The idea with Miraculous was to be "glocal" - basically to keep their local, French culture and influences while making it global.
Then he talks about anime influences - and this sent me, I'll just put the whole quote: "And when you look at the anime from Japan, there are girl powers, there are girl power superheroes, but they're very very sexy. [...] And this is something that is culturally okay there, but in France or America, it's just impossible. But when you look at the message behind it, these are girls who save the world. And when I grew up watching like, Sailor Moon, at this age I didn't even realise that she was super sexy. I was just...watching, and her aspirational character, and I was waiting for the final combo when she will do, you know, the super flashing light from the power of the Moon and kill the villains, and that's just what I was excited about".
So he wanted to mix this magical girl power with American look and feel of the comics. He thought about how he liked Goku or Spiderman and as a kid he didn't care about what studio was behind them, they were just characters to him, and so he approached Ladybug the same way. Then they discuss licensing, and how it's hard to do "if you don't start in the beginning, in the creative process" (in Aton's words), or, like Zag put it, "you don't make the toys of your content, you have to think about it as a brand"; "once you have the DNA, you can tell different stories, Ladybug will remain the same".
And they move on to talking about the movie. Aton says that you might think it's easy to make a movie for a brand, but it's the opposite, because it has to be different from something you can watch for free on tv, but also not dissapoint the fans. "And somehow when you say it's a success on tv, people say okay, it's for the young audience. And we wanted to make a bigger audience, we wanted to make a family movie". That audience distinction surprised me a bit.
Zag couldn't bring the show team on the movie because they were constantly busy with the show. He says it was painful because they had "great beginning and great ending and great stories" but every time they'd be like "omg we cannot say this, in episode X she said the total opposite". So for example they had planned an intro (you can see the animatic here, if you haven't seen it), where Marinette moved into Paris from China but then they remembered that "wait, in the Shanghai special she said she's never been to China" and had to scrap it. And also Zag couldn't be aware of everything that was going in the story room because he was so focused on the movie. (I wonder how much of the movie was Zag knowingly diverging from the show and how much was him forgetting or not knowing what's canon)
Aton says "the idea came from the music". Zag was preparing songs for a musical, when someone said that the music was so emotional and had a cinematic feel, we should go for a movie. Aton said the idea was "crazy", but also that they had something unique 'cause no one ever did a movie with superheroes singing. And also to them, it was opportunity to bring new people, especially parents into the show. And according to them, it did work because parents were going "I can see why my kid is crazy about this show now" and the ratings did get higher.
The interviewer asked how many people are working on the show, Zag said they started at 3, then 4, then 10, now there are like 15 to manage the story, and to manage the brand around 200. 120 in France, and the rest in America, and some in Asia, Africa, etc. He also mentioned they brought in new writers, because the show needed "fresh blood" and some writers move onto other projects, but Thomas and Sebastian are still the "keepers of what the episode should look like".
He talks about Lady Tiger, and how she's from Japan and has cancer and is balding, and how his dad went through the same thing. "When someone is sick, it's their whole family that is sick". And adds: "we have like 10 characters in the next 11 years, and they're like, all written and all in production already" (which I already rambled about, but I cannot imagine them all being in production at the same time).
They talk about animation some more, but what I wanted to know is their answer to the last question about AI. Basically, Aton was like, AI is scary for live action folks but not for us, because "AI is animation, you go quicker" and "if we can go from 4 years to 2 years with AI, I'm only happy with it". And Zag's stance (based off this and another interview) is that genAI can't replace imagination and passion (I agree) but it's still a great tool (ehhh) and it's "just a computer", "nothing about it to be scared about".
And that's where it ends.

My avatar tla hot take ACTUALLY UNPOPULAR and not just minority opinion is that Azula is a terrible addition to the series. On her own? Oh, her character was great, complex, etc. She is a queen, a great diva, wonderful villain, interesting, deserved a great redemption too (She is 14! A baby!) etc. She just would have suited a magic girl show, a horror movie (in the typical scary, powerful little girl fashion), or a darker, more mature show with more characters like her, meaning child prodigies, better.
Combined with the rest of the atlab story? Kinda makes me laugh. She is such a ridiculous addition that makes it obvious this is a kids’ show. When I first watched the show, Zuko's father and the fact he had branded him was such a serious “oh shit” moment. Like, that is a father whose expectations are truly ridiculously high. It was scary. I mean who could meet them?
Zuko, whether a villain or an anti-hero, was a special, unique character the first few episodes because he was intimately acquainted with the scary main villain in a way no one was.
Then comes Azula. Come at me to debunk me (I may not even try to argue because this is such a weird opinion in the fandom, for real I haven't heard it) but she feels like a writer self-insert. Not a little kid’s writer self-insert, mind you, she feels like a well-written, dark, and complex self-insert or oc written by a talented fic writer in her 30s with years of experience that may become an original writer someday, but an oc nonetheless.
Azula feels like “oh, Zuko could never live up to his evil father’s ideals? Oh here comes my oc Azula, despite being 2 years younger she is soo much better at firebending and does everything better, even being evil, she is the main villain’s golden child and sidekick! And the sister of the main antagonist who interacts with him constantly!” (oh isn't that so cool?) “oh shit wait she needs flaws otherwise she is a villain Sue, let's see.… perfectionism! Perfect flaw! and at the very end after needing a 2 against 1 setting to be defeated she has a mental breakdown, perfect!”
“But gifted children and prodigies exist!!” you may say. Yesss I knowww. She is both too dark of a concept and too corny for atla. I see the flaws and contradictions in the ~vibes~ Azula gives me, thank you anyway. But regardless of rationally being aware of this, the reveal that this powerful character that comes to replace Zuko in causing the gaang trouble (Because let's face it, the beginning of Zuko's redemption arc and needing an even bigger bad to replace him and shock the viewers by how much more dangerous/powerful they are is the whole reason for Azula’s existence) is his 14-year-old LITTLE sister is so… dorky and laughable for me personally. And not only because of her gender in case you come to attack me from that angle. Zuko's prodigy little brother would perhaps have been an even worse and more ridiculous big bad replacement (Girls being shorter is understandable, but with a little brother we would visually see how much Zuko would be able to beat him if this weren't a kids’ show with magic, it would be even harder to suspend my disbelief to). Like, I am sure the reasons I hate the concept are the very same reasons some others love it, but you are telling me that the one capable of fulfilling the evil child burner father's expectations is… simply some rando younger child? It is not that Ozai was a freak who wanted the impossible, it is just that Zuko wasn't it. It is corny, it is dumb. It is so obviously meant for kids. Thanks, I hate it.
Azula also combines in a very weird and bizarre way with Zuko's tragic origin story (Also it is just another source of angst that is completely unnecessary, that distracts from what his father did to him and never living up to his expectations or being too compassionate for his own good, now there is a little sibling in the way being better than him at everything). Call me crazy, but Zuko as an only child, or at least a child without crazy op YOUNGER siblings would have had a MUCH more interesting relationship with his father. Perhaps an even ANGSTIER and more complex relationship where his approval is just within reach but also not quite there. Where it seems conceivable and yet out of reach. Where Ozai is the type of abuser who gives him praise when he does something right just to tear him down mercilessly when he doesn't.
What Zuko has in canon with Ozai and Azula is also interesting, painful, and angsty, but it is “never be able to be this other random younger child who happens to be a prodigy so what is even the point of trying when dad always reminds me of how meh I am compared to her” instead of “never be able to be like my father who is putting all his hopes and that of his empire on me, who at times seems to care so much”. That last one is much more compelling for me personally for a character that ends up being the opposite of his father and learns being like him is not a good thing, it also gives Zuko a good, believable reason to keep trying to please his father: there is actually a chance, there is no one there who has already won the race. Oh my, his search for the Avatar would have made so much more sense without Azula why does Azuka exist in this universe whyy 😭
Don't get me wrong, the sibling rivalry and abusers putting children against each other, having a golden child and a scapegoat, is realistic in many families, but from a storytelling perspective I find it VERY whatever, MEH. Like, the moment Ozai burns Zuko would have been a much greater instance of utter betrayal and shock if Ozai actually acted at times like he had some hope in his son instead of being constantly comparing him to his sister. Now everytime I am made aware of what Ozai did to Zuko I am like “duh” what were you expecting, Zuko, baby? It is still evil as fuck, but no longer shocking or a wtf moment, it is just the boring, edgy and predictable culmination of Ozai already having a “better” child he prefers to succeed him, a total overkill, and in fact, knowing Ozai, he should have done so earlier or straight up had Zuko killed, it makes no sense he is still alive when Azula is a much better successor from his perspective. It means nothing and Zuko should of fing course be traumatized and emotionally and physically distraught by the damage done to him by his own father, but he should not longer logically be that shocked or struck dumb. From a fictional, storytelling perspective, for me personally, the moment loses a tiny bit of its power, at least from the betrayal-someone-who-should-care-for-you—hurting-you—instead aspect.
If I had been there to write the ~big worse bad before Ozai~ meant to replace Zuko as he begins his journey of redemption, I would have chosen something much more serious (I get “abused child soldier” is serious, duh, I just mean serious in a way that makes me fear for the gaang being faced not with a peer but with someone bigger and much more experienced, and not just distract myself with how horrible it is that a “father” makes a 14-year-old girl into a soldier for an invading army). I would have chosen an equally or even more powerful, ADULT, right-hand man (or woman) of Ozai. If it really had to be a sibling of Zuko, it would have been a brother or sister 5 years OLDER, and that is AT THE VERY LEAST, perhaps the son or daughter of a minor wife or concubine (To fix the issue of why they are not the heir and why Zuko could be jealous of their much better skills while at the same time still having a good reason to keep trying to earn their father's approval, which is that there is still time to learn and improve as the younger party, this could have also made Ursa more sympathetic since the “evil” sibling is no longer a child of hers that she emotionally neglected). This could also give the character depth in the sense that they hate the fact they have no claim to the throne despite being older and “better”. They could still care for Zuko while having a love hate relationship with them, a sibling rivalry, Ozai turning them against each other, same as Azula, without taking away from Zuko's interesting relationship with Ozai (I just want his urge to overpower his better sibling to come from a place of his father actually expecting him to do it and be mad he doesn't instead of just Ozai putting all his hopes on the other sibling and Zuko for some plot related reasons still wanting his father's impossible approval despite never being able to earn it because Azula is there, better at a younger age, is that too much to ask? Like at this point Zuko should be smart enough to see that firebending skills are inborn and related to ~fantasy-version-of-genetics~, he should logically have seen it is not his fault and stopped trying to be Ozai or Azula MUCH earlier).
So in summary, believe it or not, I like Azula. I like the whole child prodigy golden child psychologically groomed and abused by evil father angle and I would love a redemption arc for her. I just don't like her AS an atla character. I feel like she does a disservice to Zuko by even existing due to how complex and interesting yet overpowered she is, actually. She ruins his motivations imo. Ironically enough, Zuko does not do a disservice to her, he makes her more interesting because he is a warning of what could happen to her if she is not perfect, he makes her vulnerable. But here is the deal, this would work better if she was the protagonist.
Edit: I just realized it is not just Azula who does a disservice to Zuko's story, it is the whole “Ozai straight up hated the little fucker since birth and tried to kill him before as a child therefore what he did to him was not a consequence of Zuko being compassionate as fuck, Ozai might as well have been looking for an excuse”. It just cheapens it immensely.
Zuko caring for those soldiers still counts just as much (of fucking course), but it would have been more poignant story-wise for his suffering to have also be a direct consequence of his first signs of goodness + his father being an abuser pshyco and not just the latter + Ozai always hated him because Zuko is the good guy and his father’s empire is evil so we need a way to make the children see Zuko is good and not like the rest from the beginning in a painfully simple way by making Ozai inherently hate him or smt because abusers “loving” their children in fucked up ways is too complicated

GHOSTFORCE OPINION AND RECOMMENDATION (series necessary to watch to better understand MLB)
Given that there will clearly be a crossover with Ghostforce, I was forced to watch it, in 3 days I did a marathon and binge-watched everything about the series hahahahaha
Tumblr media
what is it about? : there are 3 boys who must capture ghosts in capsules using superpowers, ghosts that appear out of nowhere and cause chaos, they have the help of miss jones, a half-human, half-ghost scientist who studies ghosts and a robot called glowboo, with the power to illuminate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are 2 seasons: the 1st season has 52 episodes and the 2nd also has 52, but the latter is still broadcast, each episode lasts approximately 12 minutes, as for movies, there are none so far, but there are 2 specials, one for Halloween and one for Christmas, both lasting approximately 21 minutes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
how is it? My criticism and opinion: The truth is that it is a very good series, I really like the idea of fighting ghosts in the Ghostbuster style, and I also think that the concept of light and dark is very good, the characters are good, and well, One thing that I do like is how they leave the villain in the veil of mystery (something that MLB does not do) and also how the relationship between man and woman is carried out in the dynamics of battles, you know we are in the era where the woman has to being perfect and the trash man, but here this is well balanced and everyone contributes something important, which is appreciated, what I do think can play in a negative way is that they are very long seasons and even though the episodes are short, sometimes It is hard to see, because sometimes the dynamics are similar, (a bit like what happened in MLB) but of course, it is necessary to see because they are presentations of characters.
For me, the best have been the specials, especially the Halloween one, which undoubtedly best captures the essence of this series, and what its concept is, these are my favorites.
Tumblr media
As for the animation and soundtrack, the truth is that it is also very good, it is average, a bit childish but not unpleasant to see, where it can best be appreciated is in the spaces, where the conditions are met, the music too It's fine but it often has Miraculous vibes, in fact, there is some recycling, and it will seem like you are watching this series hahaha.
Should we see it? :Yes, but come on, go see it right now!!! not because of how good she is but because of her connection with miraculous LADYBUG.
miraculous and ghostforce occur in the same universe and are connected, but on some amazing levels, there are references everywhere,

so it is logical that there is going to be a crossover, but, as I tell you, as I have watched the series this goes further, I mean the LONDON thing IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF WHAT YOU HAVE PLANNED GUYS!!!! , there are a lot of clues, so to speak, that the series itself leaves to imply how ALL THIS WILL COME TOGETHER more than once, it will be like MARVEL AND DC, so if you are a fan of miraculous ladybug, yes or yes You are going to have to watch this series because in the future everything is going to be connected to each other and you are going to get lost, (TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA, THIS IS GOING TO BE LIKE AVENGERS ENGAME, CLEARLY IF YOU DON'T SEEN CAPTAIN AMERICA, OR IRON MAN OR AVENGERS, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO UNDERSTAND ANYTHING AT ALL) and let's not talk about Zak Storm, this series has a subtle hint of that series, so imagine!!!!! And, this series is long so I recommend that you hurry up, another thing is that as you already know I have said that Miraculous LADYBUG is a puzzle and gives clues to what is going to happen next, right? Well, GHOSTFORCE is also part of that and has helped me better understand MLB, so if you have those types of problems, this series will also help you.
MIRACULER YEARS AGO :"HEY!" YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE PREVIOUS CHAPTER OF MLB, BECAUSE IF NOT YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND WHY HE DOES THIS OR THAT." MIRACULER TODAY "YOU HAVE TO WATCH ALL THE SERIES in the ZAG universe BECAUSE IF NOT, YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS CHARACTER IS IN THE OTHER HERO'S COUNTRY AND THEY WORK TOGETHER ETC…"
Tumblr media
CONCLUSION: YOU HAVE TO CATCH UP WITH ALL THIS, GO SEE IT, YOU WILL ENJOY IT AND YOU WILL BE MORE UP TO DATE WITH THIS WORLD OF HEROES THAT JEREMY IS SETTING UP, I FOR ONE, WHEN I FINISH MY ZAG POSTS, I WILL START MAKING THEORIES OF THE LONDON SPECIAL AND GHOSTFORCE WITH MLB BECAUSE SERIOUSLY I HAVE DISCOVERED MANY THINGS!!!!!
thanks for all the reblogs and likes, we really love it.

The fact that takes like this are still being spewed 7 years after Civil War maddens me.
OMG where do I even start... You know, maybe this is the result of the MCU not knowing where they stand in regards to heroism. In the past we used to watch superhero movies that were very clear on defending the heroes and keeping the villains accountable, but for some reason the MCU seems to enjoy questioning their heroes and framing them in a negative light while justifying the bad guys - so I'm not surprised to read these takes.
OP says "Hydra didn't hide themselves after the reveal". Uh, yes, they did, actually. And with good reason. If you have been infiltrating an American intelligence agency for decades and you're finally outed, why exactly would anyone go out there and happily advertise they're Hydra? That... makes no sense.
I honestly have no interest in talking about "Did Wanda and Pietro know or not?". I'll just leave this here.
In the same comment OP shows his anger at Wanda for not facing any consequences for her actions, he defends Stark "not selling more weapons" as enough accountability for his. So he can spend his whole life willfully ignorant of where his wealth is coming from, he only decides to stop selling when those weapons kill Americans (he didn't give a fuck if they hurt other people), he can literally tell the government to suck it when they request his tech (which I'm okay with, but damn, nice display of hypocrisy right there when these stans claim the heroes are awful for not signing the Accords in CW)... and all this shit is enough for Stark to be off the hook?
They want Wanda, sometimes even Steve, to be jailed and punished but when it comes to Stark, if he pouts for a while they call it a day and that's enough accountability for him 🤦‍♀️
OP's line about Edith is even worse: "Edith is designed as a planetary defense system." I always think of Zola's line in TWS whenever I read a take like that one: "HYDRA created a world so chaotic that humanity is finally ready to sacrifice its freedom to gain its security."
More control doesn't equate more safety, it tends to cause the opposite thing, actually. But of course NWH never addressed the morality of this device so many fans think its existence okay. If they had handled it like Nolan did their ideas would be different. Edith is another Project Insight and Stark was still defending this "control is safety" years after CW 👇
Tumblr media
That's Hydra rhetoric. I couldn't care less if it's a so-called "hero" saying it, that line could be said by Zola or Red Skull or Rumlow, that's how messed up it is. But all of a sudden it's Stark saying it and that makes it okay?
OP: "Steve Rogers [...] solves problems by punching things [...] He has no fucking idea how to handle a situation involving a bioweapon or a terrorist." Tell me you don't understand Steve's character without telling me you don't understand him. This stan is one of those who thinks Steve is just a buff guy with no brains who can only punch his way out of things, which is hilarious because he has been shown to be the exact opposite of that.
A guy who figured out how to take that flag from Camp Lehigh, who could easily tell he was being deceived after being defrosted when that Shield woman approached him in the med bay, who figured out Loki's sceptre worked like a Hydra weapon (linking the space and mind stones & how they worked), who knows military regulations well enough to know where a building is built in the wrong place, who can figure out he's going to be attacked in an elevator after only a few seconds...
Sure, he only knows how to punch things 🙄

Is it just me or is it kind of upsetting to see people villainize Asha? Like just because she opposed the king’s views doesn’t make her a villain or even an antagonist. A villain is someone who’s sadistic and wants to cause harm for their own gain! Asha only wanted the people to get their wishes back because the king wasn’t going to grant every wish. Like it is not for herself?? It is for the people! Even Asha knows that some wishes are bad and didn’t want every wish granted but she still wanted the good wishes to have a chance but the king’s opinion is getting in the way of that happening. Like did we even watch the same movie? And some would say that the citizens knew that not every wish would be granted but it really seems like they didn’t know at least not for CERTAIN. The king didn’t even clarify anything and that’s really on him. And what’s worse is that disney will look back at this film and the protagonist and maybe reframe from making another main black or mixed female heroine for a long time. The Asha hate is tainting this character with crude negativity for little girls. Sorry if this is long I just find it sad to me.
Girl, it's very upsetting to see Asha get villainize and all it's because "Antagonist Hot" and mix with a good amount of sexism Cause this Happens to other female heroines too but it's even crazier that they do it with Queen Amaya, amaya tried to stop magnifico from using the forbidden book, she also tried again to free him from the power of the forbidden book Which was all her ideal to do by the way, amaya came up with the plan to look through the book to get magnifico back to his senses, And back to asha who is called a "Brat" because she couldn't get what she wanted, By the way this thing she is being a "brat" over is Actually really important and Emotionally Beneficial not only to her but to her 100 year old grandfather who has waited years for it to come true but will NEVER have it granted or have it back so he can pursue himself Because magnifico doesn't like the Thought or Possibility of people getting inspired to pursue their wishes themselves cause that would take Power and Control from magnifico, but yeah Obviously asha is totally the real villain here and Definitely not the Power hungry, Paranoid, Narcissist king who has a book of dark magic😁 So sadly yes, disney is going to look at asha and reframe from making new black disney princesses/heroines, they already did it, the gap Between Tiana and Asha is 15 years...yep it take them that long to make another disney princess Because the other one Failed and now with asha we are probably going to have to wait another 15 years for a new black disney princess.

Oooo I have a little question since we've been talking on the Halloween polycule for a bit together.
Would the Halloween poly dress up in matching Halloween costumes? if so, what would they dress up as? If not, who's dressing up as what? :3
Ooh, that’s a fun question! I’ll compile some of my thoughts into a snippet of this scenario, since I think that’ll be easier.
———
On the morning of Halloween, Veronika walked into the living room and immediately made a beeline for her two housemates, who were both sitting on the couch.
“Arturo, Acey, have I ever mentioned how much I love you?” She asked, plopping down in the middle of couch in between them.
“We’ve talked about that nickname.” Ace grumbled, glaring. Her flattery hadn’t worked as well as she’d hoped.
Arturo sighed. “What do you want, Veronika? It’s clear you’re up to something.”
“Weeeeelllll, I was thinking we could wear matching costumes for Halloween this year!” Veronika exclaimed, “We could—”
“No.” Both Arturo and Ace answered at the same time, not even letting her finish.
“I’m not dressing up for Halloween, Veronika, that’s an activity for children.” Arturo said. Ace nodded in agreement.
“Oh, okay.” Veronika answered sadly. “But we have to do something for Halloween, if we’re not doing that. We always watch Arturo’s favorite reality TV shows when he asks, so I should get to do something for this!” She reasoned. A wide grin spread across his face. “Then again, I suppose I could settle for a different Halloween activity. We could always watch a scary movie, or visit haunted houses, or—”
“NO!” Ace screeched, covering her mouth with his hands. He tried to recover his dignity afterwards (and did not succeed), clearing his throat and saying, “I-I mean, I like the costumes idea better.”
“Yay!” Veronika exclaimed, giving him a quick hug before turning to Arturo. “Pleeeeease can you do it with us? It’ll be fun!”
Arturo pinched the bridge of his nose between his fingers, silent for a moment before letting out a long sigh. “…Fine.”
“Yay! I already have our costumes picked out, and all the makeup we’ll need, and—” Veronika immediately started rambling, clapping her hands together and bouncing up and down slightly as she explained her plan to them.
Despite the fact they were beginning to regret this already, the other two had to admit it was nice seeing her so happy.
———
So yeah. Long story short Ace and Arturo don’t want to dress up, but Veronika convinces them in the end. Here are a few other headcanons and such:
-I’m not sure what their costumes should be, which is ironic because that’s the one question you wanted an answer to. Maybe they could do something fun with classic Disney villains or something. Arturo is Cruella, Veronika is Ursula, and Ace is the Queen of Hearts. Or something like that. I’d love to hear other people’s ideas!
-Arturo insists on taking many photos, since he figures putting so much effort into your appearance and then not showing anybody would be a waste.
-Arturo may be good at conventional makeup, but Veronika far exceeds him in the scary makeup department. Thus, she’s the one to do all the makeup for their costumes.
-Veronika wants to watch a Halloween movie, but Ace is against anything too scary, so they compromise and watch the Nightmare Before Christmas. Ace forgot how creepy the Oogie Boogie Man is and ended up scared anyway, hugging Arturo’s arm like a teddy bear for comfort. He didn’t cry, though!…Well okay, maybe a little.
-Veronika makes spooky snacks. They’re not actually spooky, but she’ll call something like popcorn and M&M’s ‘Unicorn intestines’ or something like that and it gets the job done. She tries to make a cake that looks like a real human heart, too, but according to Arturo it is not atomically accurate in the slightest.
-Overall they have a lot of fun! Veronika is happy to spend her favorite holiday with her two favorite people.

Probably unpopular opinion.... but I like the new Crow... but not everything.
There are certain things that could have been written better and or altered to give a better understanding of time and given more action. SPOILERS FOR ORIGINAL, TV SERIES AND REMAKE
They give no information how long Eric and Shelly are together before dying. All we know is they meet in rehab, fall completely and utterly in love with each other and then end up dead. In the original we see how they met in flashbacks, but in the present we can tell they've been together a long time from the clues. They're utterly in love and engaged, planning a wedding. They're looking after a girl who's mother is an absent drug addict. They're known and loved by people around them and they talk about how much they loved each other.
Shelly get's Eric killed, which is a bold way to play this version, adding to the how long have they known each other that they're this in love that they are still living in the area where Shelly is being looked for as a wanted woman and he doesn't know more about her. In the original movie they die for not selling their loft to the criminals who want to make money as well as doing evil things like burning down homes, businesses and so on, killing people, incest and more.
This one we got a guy selling innocent souls to the devil or something of the like, to not go to hell himself. It's in the same realm, but all we see him do with it is kill people and not really show what deal he made. My best guess it was to be super rich and have young good looking woman around him.
The original villains were brother and sister and did it for power and showed what they did to keep that power through out the movie. The sister had visions and was sadistic as her brother. Both sleeping together and with others before killing them.
The remake has many unnamed victims and henchmen that help keep the main villains actions secret. I couldn't name a single one of them if I tried. We just get to see Eric kill them all in interesting ways at the end in one big battle, but never as personal as the original. The original we see and get to know the main villain and the henchmen through out the movie and get to enjoy and watch as Eric hunts down every single one. Leaving them as calling cards to invoke fear for the next on the list and they don't know who that will be.
Another thing that fails is who are Shelly and Eric’s friends. I don’t remember anyone in the remake.
The original we have mainly Sarah, but she makes us feel in on what’s happening and puts stakes in to what’s going on.
She and the friendly cop are missing.
I missed the buddy cop so much in this remake. It seems they are trying to make one of Eric’s friends that, but it doesn’t really work that well. He’s there and gone.
With the original we had a cop fed up with the way the city is and wanting to stop it but doesn’t have the power. He’s not corrupted and he even cares when he sees what happened to Eric and Shelly. Trying to be there for Shelly in the end.
We don’t have that in the remake, and it really shows. We get less than 10 mins of Eric fighting the main villain at the end of the movie and it feels fast.
The original takes it’s time and we feel it. He’s weakened and he ends up needing help.
The reverse happens, we here he is week and then strong, but we do see the reasoning behind it is to set up for sequels.
Which I wouldn’t mind if it means we see more of him fighting like the last part of the movie.
In the end this all feels similar to how they set up The Crow Stairway to Heaven.
They leave it open for Eric to be a superhero for those in need. To see more crazy supernatural villains and the sort.
Even the part were they mention Shelly and Eric meeting again in another life and being soulmates.
That is heavily played on in the tv series to the point that there are episodes where Eric and Shelly were together in past lives. Though Eric has been a Crow as well as both met tragic ends in past lives as well.
They also introduced the idea of other animals bringing souls back and being their source of power to the returned person.
One villain pretending he is paralyzed and tormenting his wife while also doing other evil things when he can walk and his pet snake is his power.
I haven’t had the chance to read the novels/comics, but I can understand upset to those diehard to the material.
But for myself I don’t mind the changes to a great degree. Only a few things like the relationship building taking up much of the run time and not knowing the amount of time together bugs me the most.
If they had cut that down, played it as she’s been on the run for years and in another city and they had to go back for a reason, I’d have bought that more.
The ending as well is confusing, but supposedly it’s universe resetting as balance returns sort of thing.
Bill is amazing as Eric and I could watch him for hours.
I’m not really a fan of the actress chosen for Shelly, but whatever.
This makes two clowns I’d watch Bill play every chance I’d get. Gots me excited for his IT return.
Make the sequel better in the end and I’d watch it.

what scifi media do you like?
OH ANON I HAVE SO MANY. i'm so glad you asked 💕💕💕 (tagging @gorydean too so she sees 💕💕💕)
gotta start first and foremost with the sparrow series by mary doria russell as my blog is basically just a shrine to it at this point. amazing book and definitely recommend it if you love found family, first contact, trauma, tragedy, and the abandonment of the faithful by g-d. huge massive trigger warning tho. everyone says the second book isn't as good as the first, but i completely disagree. i think they're bitg equally as good as each other; the second book just takes awhile to get to the most insanity inducing parts whereas the first one starts out strong with that and keeps going until the end of the story.
i would have more books to recommend, but i've only just started REALLY getting back into reading after several years of not reading as much due to a variety of reasons (mostly trauma and chronic and mental illness). that being said, i have an insane amount of films to give you to watch instead of books.
gotta recommend my all time fav film (or one of the two anyway), the fountain. most people...don't like this movie because they think it's hard to understand and doesn't make sense towards the end (i had to watch it several times to get it), but please please please watch it. it's a beautiful film both visually and plotwise as long as you give it a chance 💕
sound of my voice is softer in terms of scifi, but still definitely scifi. it's another film that lets you decide what to believe. it's also another film people tend not to like for whatever reason, but i think it's extremely well done and the ending is so 💕💕💕💕💕💕
cloud atlas. very much a story in the same vein as the fountain taking place over different timelines. another beautifully done story about how everything and everyone is connected throughout space and time. ofc my fav timelines are the ones with robert frobisher and sonmi-451. i do also recommend the book, but i liked the film better because of a few of the changes they made.
sunshine is one of my fav films ever and i've loved it since i was in high school and first saw it. it reminds me a lot of three body problem in the sense that antagonist (idk if i would exactly call him a villain even tbh) is using g-d as a reason for the things he's doing. there's a few deleted scenes i wish they'd kept in because it really emphasizes this, but even so, this film is gorgeous in so many ways.
i origins. if u can't tell already i'm a huge brit marling fan and i think this is one of her best stories. again: you get to choose what to believe and you really have to watch the whole film for the pay off, but it is so very much worth it. i think i've actually only ever watched this film once, tho idk why bc it's genuinely one of my favs.
looper is another film that idk why more people weren't into it. the setting is dystopian. i was trying to think of a way to explain it in a few short sentences like i have the rest of the films here, but it's one of those films also that i think going into it knowing nothing is better. the kid who plays the rainmaker is so fucking good too. he's not even 10, but he played that role perfectly.
elysium. EVERYONE KNOWS DISTRICT 9 BUT NO ONE KNOWS ELYSIUM. i stand by my opinion that this film would be infinitely better if diego luna were the main character instead of matt damon, but even so i really love this film. the score is gorgeous. also lmao we for real might be living in this universe soon if elon fixes up that space hotel he wants to do fucking rip
ender's game. the author is a homophobic and transphobic dickwad who actively gives his money to anti-lgbt organizations, so watch this for free if you can (and buy the books second hand), but i actually really enjoyed what they did with this film. a lot of people thought it was too rushed, but also like....ender's game is a very Dense book, so i understand why they did it the way they did it. also the score is amazing.
signs. another film involving g-d and religion seen through the lens of scifi and first contact. this film gets shit on a ton for reasons i do not know, but it's actually really well done. it scared the ever living shit out of me the first few times i saw it tho bc i did Not grow up watching horror.
knowing. another film involving g-d and religion seen through the lens of scifi and first contact (can you tell i have a type of film/media i like???). this film also scared the ever living shit out of me when i first saw it to the point i had to sleep with the lights on, but in all actuality it isn't scary at all (i was just 14 and had never seen a thriller before lol). i really love disaster films tbh, but this is one of my all time favs (next to greenland).
another earth i did not like when i first saw it. i thought the whole thing was kind of pointless and didn't make very much sense, but the more i've thought about it since then, the more i've understood it. funnily enough, i never watched it a second time, but it's brit marling, so i probably will eventually. again: definitely recommend.
lucy. listen i know this has scarlett johansson in it and none of us like her, but this film is good despite her. i thought it was going to be dumb as hell when i first saw it, but i actually ended up liking it so much that it's heavily inspired the next novel i'm planning on writing (a scifi space opera about a girl becoming g-d).
origami. okay this one is difficult to find and you WILL have to buy it if you want to watch it (trust me: i have searched FAR and wide for this film in any other place and vimeo is the ONLY place i found it; it's only $5 to rent on there tho), but it's so worth it. it's worth it. it's one of my fav films and i watched it purely because of francois arnaud and i'm glad i did. this literally is his best work imo.
ink is my all time hands down favorite film. idk if you would even call it scifi, but i love it so much i just wanted to talk about it. it very obviously had zero budget, but they used what little money they had VERY wisely and the result was this beautiful film. the story makes me sob every single time. actually it's quite similar to origami, so if you like one, you'll probably like the other.
tron: legacy is another film that people shit on and idk why. it has The Best religious imagery. like how are you going to top one of the programs falling to their knees in prayer as flynn passes by????? the whole thing seems to be a jesus/judas metaphor anyway and i'm crazy for that shit. gotta mention the score as always because daft punk knocked it out of the park (people shit on the score too and i really don't get why).
thelma. i watched this one a whim with a friend and i cannot recommend it enough. i feel like it was kind of popular on here when it first came out bc it's a sapphic film, but it's also just very good in general. i've seen people get super upset about it also bc their interpretation makes it lesbophobic (which is crazy to me but whatever.
melancholia. i did Not like this movie for the longest time, but then i watched it recently and finally Got it. i guess you really do have to be a certain level of depressed to understand this film, so if you're insanely suicidal and can barely function like me, then i recommend it. you will probably get some catharsis out of it like i did. it is a very Strange film tho.
the creator came out at the end of last year and it was so good. definitely my fav film to come out in the last few years and involves g-d, religion, and AI. the score also in this is great (everybody say thank you hans zimmer. again.). the ending makes me sob so much.
more that i love a lot, but not as much (apparently there's a character limit, so i can't explain why these are my favs too, but it's for similar reasons as above).
the matrix trilogy
the fifth element
snowpiercer
blade runner 2049
as for tv shows, i don't have as many, but i do have a few that i would highly recommend if you like any of the films above:
halo. again: everyone shits on this show, but the absolute TRAGEDY of it is the fanboys hate it bc they suck and are bigots and everyone else who would like it (LIKE MY MUTUALS) refuses to give it a chance because of its overall reputation, so i'm BEGGING YOU GUYS TO GIVE IT A CHANCE.
foundation. genuinely fucking good. so much of what the creators of this show have done to change the story has been for the better. i read the books and they were okay, but the show is so so good. idk when season 3 will be coming out, but hopefully soon (same for halo, which i actually like better than this show).
the oa. i will forever mourn what we could've had with this show. i can't even talk about it without getting choked up. this getting canceled really truly fucked me up.
castle rock season 1. technically a horror series, but this season is more scifi than horror, i think. everything really comes to a head in episode 9 iirc and that episode still makes me crazy when i think about it. i definitely need to do a rewatch.
firefly/serenity. you've probably heard this one recommended before, but there's a reason for that. it's really so good, but g-d and jesus hate me because it too was canceled before it could even finish ONE SEASON. thankfully there's a film that kind of ties everything together, but WE COULD'VE HAD SO MUCH MORE.
i tried to put in some movies that aren't talked about as much on here!! i also have several letterboxd lists dedicated purely to scifi, which you can find below.
holy holy holy (scifi (and other films) involving religious imagery or straight up just about theology
the sparrow cinematic universe (films that are either discussed in the sparrow or remind me of it or that i could see the main characters watching)
but it was my body. it was my blood. and it was my love. (films that i either genuinely believe could be based off of the sparrow or just remind me of it in some way)
per aspera ad astra (scifi films i have seen or heard of. this literally is every single scifi film i remember ever in existence so it's quite long)
also mainstream scifi that i recommend/am obsessed with
interstellar
dune series (wer'e talking about the books here; not whatever the fuck denis villenueve pulled with the films lmao)
district 9
annihilation/southern reach trilogy
ex machina
prometheus
pacific rim
arrival
event horizon
mad max: fury road
nope
mobile suit gundam series (mostly hathaway and g-witch tho)
star wars (mostly the prequel and sequel trilogies)
nausicaa of the valley of the wind
castle in the sky
inception
tenet
high life
aldnoah zero
hanna
real steel
86: eighty-six
this is so much longer than i meant it to be omg. anyway people do not call me the scifi queen for no reason.

Gale Reviews: Spider-man : Across the Spiderverse
Tumblr media
thanks @knightsweeties for drawing my icon's spidersona
So I am WAY behind on movies I should have been watching and Finally cleared my schedule enough to watch this movie
So I think I will break it down into the following. As a fan of into the spider-verse, my expectations for this film are a lot higher than most movies. Here's how I am breaking it down.
Animation
Plot
The Characters
The Lesson
Does it live up to the hype
Final Thoughts
____________________________________________________________
Animation
Across the Spiderverse is an animation marvel.
I wouldnt call it beautiful, because that is such a mundane term. It is artistically masterful. It even goes beyond what it had done in the previous film.
The way the film has each universe has its own art, color and style that transfers to each character. The level of detail is beautiful. The way colors are used in Gwen's universe. How Hobie is never looking consistent in any shot he is in because in his own words "He hates consistency" Its incredible.
The animation is the best part of the movie. If the animation is a cut above the rest and it is the best I have every seen in a CGI film.
10/10 (And that is a hard 10)
Plot
The film takes place a year and 4 months after the events of Into the spiderverse. There is a group of inter dimensional spider people that go around to fight anomalies and ensure the "Canon" is maintained.
Miles aka Spiderman is just trying to get a hang of his life as Spider man, his parents are worried about his future and now he has a new villain, the Spot. The Spot is obsessed with becoming Miles/Spiderman's nemesis and is hopping universes to increase his power.
Miles ends up in trouble with the interdimensional spider people and their leader, Miguel o'hara. And it culminates in the Spot becoming a massive threat to the multiverse, Miles being chased down by the spider people because he is an anomoly and him ending up in a dimension from where the Spider that bit him came from. A world where there is no spider man.
Now there is SO much to cover and this movie is a 2 hour and 20 minutes and it is only PART 1!
Now there are also a bunch of other story lines like with Gwen and her dad, Peter B parker becoming a father and The Spot figuring out his powers. But that is only the beginning.
Now the way the movie takes its time to set things up is fine... but it also feels like there are some things that could have been cut. It feels so long. The movie does do a good job to ensure it never feels boring, but at the same time it feels cluttered and empty in random intervals.
The first part does leave me excited for part 2, but I also feel like I have a lot of movie to process already and I am not in a rush to see part 2.
I think the previous film did a better job maintaining the hype and pacing, while also giving so much development.
Overall 8/10
_____________________________________________________________
The Characters
Miles Morales: Miles is as great as he was in the first film. You sympathize with his situation, he never comes off as annoying or jerkish because the movie does a good job in making sure you understand his perspective. Even when he is arguing with his parents, you know he wants to tell them but all the advice he has been given is NOT to. The problem with Miles though is that his problem is basically the same as the first one, people keep telling him what he is or needs to be and he has to find his own way and rise up. It feels a bit repetitive. But that being said it is a twist on it because with the situation we as the audience have to figure out if Miles is in the right or not.
Spider-Gwen: Gwen gets more development here, including the focus on her dynamic with her father. The strain that occured when he found out that his daughter was the vigilante that he believed killed his daughter's best friend. Its a whole can of worms as Gwen is basically dimension hoping to avoid dealing with that. We also see how she and miles grow closer ONLY to seperate as he learned the truth on why she never visited and why he is an anomoly. Gwen does manage to make up with her dad and she has a new mission, saving Miles. She is in her own way just as much of a main character in this as Miles, which is great for her as it allows us to explore her character more. Her character is one of the best.
The Spot: When it comes to pathetic villains that grow into massive threats, you can say I have a soft SPOT for them. I like the backstory and how absurdly dumb it is but how it makes sense. The spot is growing into his own and a twisted version of miles, like he had to deal with in the first movie. Coming into his own but lacking control only to grow exponentially as he grew in confidence. The spot now has a mission, be the true nemesis of Miles whether he wants it or not, and he is willing to rip apart the multiverse to do it.
Miguel O'Hara: The hard ass future spiderman that is obsessed with making sure no other universe collapse. He is fervent in his belief that Canon can not be broken and any and all threats to the spiderverse need to be dealt with. He is also a foil to Miles because he is a bigger, serious and seemingly more competent version of him. Miles' own friends take this guy's side over his, and it is a great point of tension. Personally, I think he is wrong with his takes and while the movie tries to show him as right, it fails to take into account how inaccurate it is by ignoring the times things DIDNT break. If Canon was so definitive, than Miles universe would have collapsed when his world's spiderman died. Regardless I do like the character.
The Spiders: The other spider people were great. Seeing Peter b parker, and Spider byte were some of my personal favorites. Spider woman was great... but it bothered me that a PREGNANT WOMAN was doing all this crazy dangerous stuff. I dont care if she is a spider person that is dangerous and could cause a TON of complications. WHY DID NO ONE POINT OUT THE DANGER TO HER? Rant done, I did enjoy all the jokes that were made and most of the spiders were endearing and fun to see. (Lego spider man is the best one confirmed by Miguel)
Overall solid 9/10. While Gwen got an upgrade and Miguel was a welcome antagonist I think there were a LOT more characters here and it cost some of them development. But despite that it is still good.
______________________________________________________________
The Lesson
Its basically a coming of age story that life is unpredictable and that people can advise you but you are the only person that can decide how you write your story. That is similar to Miles story in the first one and it could be argued that this is just an expansion on that. Or it can be said that the first lesson was to rise to the occasion and never fear failure while this is to push forward and decide whats right for you.
Overall its done well if a bit of a rehash.
9/10
__________________________________________________________
Does it live up to the Hype?
Yes. 100% if you liked the first one you will love the second one. But I can also see the argument that the first movie was great as a stand alone, and with this being part one it now becomes dependent on how the second part delivers, that is the problem with movies in Parts. I do think it will deliver, so I am not worried on that end. So yes, it lives up to the hype.
_____________________________________________________________
Final thoughts
Across the Spiderverse brings a new redefinition of animation as we know it, it is a solid plot and it has a lot of hype and build up going into the next part. I am glad I waited before watching as it allows me not to get sucked into people's opinions and I can say I enjoy it without just agreeing with the crowd.
solid 10/10 for me. It is one of the best Animated movies I have ever seen and I cant wait for part 2.
Also what is with spider people and child endangerment? Spider woman and peter B parker. I got my EYE on you
TLDR: Its an INCREDIBLE movie, its long and it lives up to the hype.

AHHHHH I WATCHED MIRACULOUS AWAKENING TODAY AND BELOW ARE SOME OF MY THOUGHTS (SPOILERS OF COURSE!)
Tumblr media
LET ME KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS AS WELL 🐞🐈‍⬛
I was so taken off guard by the fact that it was a musical?!? Bruh 😂 At first, I thought it would just be that one song then they kept going. We’re not going to talk about the change of voice actors lol. I liked some of the songs but some were a bit cringe haha. Especially the one in the tune of the theme song with Marinette and Tikki but maybe I need to listen to them all more.
But my FAVOURITE was the song Chat sings after he falls in love with Ladybug ahhhh it absolutely confirms that Adrien is a Disney princess 👸
I liked how nervous they made Marinette and how obvious it was that she had no friends and was being bullied and ostracised by the rest of the school. In the series, back in Origins (I know they also cover it well in a Season 5 episode but ngl that was a while into the series), I did get the feel that Marinette was being bullied but more so solely by Chloe. I could tell that she didn’t have any friends until Alya came along but it didn’t seem like people didn’t like her per se. In the movie, they make it really obvious that the rest of the school avoids her like the plague because they think she’s weird. I mean, even Adrien thought she was weird when he first met her lol. Edit: Just to clarify this isn’t because I don’t want Marinette to not have self-confidence but I do think that it expressed how many people do feel at school: lonely, like they don’t fit in, and also many do struggle with bullying. And then she gets magical powers and gains more confidence (albeit a bit rushed but still).
I absolutely love how they portrayed Ladybug and Chat Noir’s relationship. The teasing (“watermelon”) was really fun to watch. And the fact that Chat called her the sidekick was just so funny. But the main thing was how Ladybug said they were partners and then they truly showed that they were!! Chat deserves love!! Although, at the end when Ladybug fixes everything, the crowd is only cheering Ladybug. I get that Chat had just found out his father was Hawkmoth so he was probably taking him to prison or something but he should have gotten some cheers as well.
Also, I don’t think this is the same in the show but the movie kind of hinted that the Ladybug and Chat Noir Miraculous often ‘fight’ a bit. I always love a bit of enemies to lovers so that was a little interesting thing I noticed they added to the lore.
Careless Whispers. That’s it.
They sort of did Plagg dirty here. Especially with the fart jokes and trash cheese lol (I know children apparently like fart jokes bit still). I mean, he was still funny but I didn’t feel the same emotional connection between him and Adrien as I do in the show. I guess they didn’t have enough time to develop them but we could have at least had one serious moment with Plagg or one moment where he actually gives Adrien some heartfelt advice. I think he did give him some love advice but it wasn’t that good haha.
Love seeing Adrien standing up to his father. Legend.
Gabriel progressively getting weaker and haggard while using the Miraculous is what we needed to physically see in the show. Also just generally movie Gabriel has my heart. I was so scared when he recognised Chat as Adrien that he would just carry on trying to get his Miraculous etc but the fact that he broke down and detransforms, makes me empathise with him. This is what show Gabriel should have been 😭
THE REVEAL?!? I was not expecting this. I didn’t think they would go that far. But they did!! And it was so sweet. The way she puts his mask on her and her voice becomes confident as she says she’s Ladybug. Ahhhh!!! And the cut before the kiss!!!
Finally, it seems as though they might make a second one as the final scene with Nathalie seems to suggest Nathalie will become the next big bad?? Ngl though, if Nathalie becomes the next villain (with Gabriel’s encouragement) that kind of ruins his character arc lol. But it might be that he wants Nathalie to get rid of that corpse (hide the evidence, girl, hide the evidence). Idk we’ll see 🙈
Overall, this movie had me squealing, awwing and glued to my screen!!

Miami Vice S1E8: No Exit
Bruce Willis plays one of the sleaziest villains in all of Vice, directed by David Soul.
One of my favorite early episodes-- this is definitely a good candidate for trying to convince someone to watch Miami Vice. Fair warning that it’s fairly upsetting!
While Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky) directs 3 episodes of Vice, David Soul (Hutch) only did this one. PMG’s episodes are brisk, sarcastic, and laden with visual metaphor. This episode from Soul is dark, contemplative, and artistically spare. Both directors, however, use music absolutely beautifully, and seem to understand the almost visceral connection between Sonny and Rico, even this early in the series. It’s a shame we never got another Soul episode, but this one is damn good.
I love that Tubbs mentions that he is scared of machine guns, because it’s something that sets him apart from the other men in the department. He’s willing to admit his weaknesses and fear and isn’t as wrapped up in the I’m-the-toughest-cop-here machismo bullshit. His ability to be a little more honest with himself is almost certainly a protective factor in terms of why he doesn’t crash and burn quite as badly as the other characters over the course of the show.
Poor Lester the bug man. Lester is one of those early Vice characters who was clearly intended to be recurring, but he mostly spends the beginning of this episode trying to explain how his tools work while Tubbs is like “shut up I’m creepily looking at ladies through a telescope” again. Jesus, Tubbs.
Sonny and Rico are so fucking mean to Paul, the FBI agent who is supposed to be going undercover. Sonny jokes that the guy “must’ve taken drama in high school” and Rico patronizingly says that he “thinks they’ll handle it.” Then they proceed to send Rico, who has like 3 months of inconsistent undercover work under his belt, and whose Jamaican accent occasionally sounds Transylvanian, to do the job instead. Great work, boys.
God. Just-- the way Sonny is simultaneously truly, genuinely, and deeply concerned about Rita and wants to get her out of Tony’s grasp, and yet in the next breath he’s utterly manipulating her so Vice can use her. “Can you do that, Rita?,” he asks her, looking desperate and mournful, “Can you buy us some time?” It’s so goddamn bald-faced. You wonder if he justifies it to himself-- he has to make her do this to save her-- or if he just goes home hating himself that night because he knows what a bastard he was for even asking.
The sequence that follows is utterly wrenching. Tony offers Rita earrings, and when she doesn’t react with the level of excitement (fawning?) he was hoping for, he slowly stalks her down the spare, white hall and then slaps her so hard she falls to the ground. It’s a repetition of the same slow, white-backgrounded violence from the interrogation scene in Calderone’s Return pt. 2; it’s shot and framed like Tony is a horror movie monster; it’s set to the tinkly, synthy, shmaltzy strains of Stay with Me by Teddy Pendergrass. The intentional musical mismatch makes it all the more painful to watch; the age-old excuse that abuse comes from love or the fear of losing the victim’s affection falls apart when a love song is juxtaposed with such stark violence.
I think it’s very telling that Sonny’s call to Rita after he witnesses this (and, rightly, blames himself for it happening) is shot with him standing in almost exactly the same way at the exact same kind of payphone as when he calls Caroline in the pilot. In both cases, he’s calling theoretically to offer some kind of support or reassurance, but in actuality appears to need reassurance himself. He wants Caroline’s confirmation that she did love him once; he wants Rita’s forgiveness. Sonny’s ongoing issue with women comes from the same place as his issues with his self-esteem; he sees himself as a hired weapon at worst and a protector of the innocent at best. When he fails to protect someone, especially a woman or a child, his self-image starts to collapse. He doesn’t believe he’s good for anything else-- so in S1, he asks those he’s failed for reassurance that he is still a good protector. In later seasons, he just believes he really isn’t good for anything.
Sonny: Well, time for you to go to jail / Tony: No one can ever make me go to jail / Random government agent: Yeah uhh so we use him for proxy wars in the Southern Hemisphere, you know how it is with the US government and guns and cocaine and something something contras, so uh, yeah, he can go free
....but Miami Vice definitely is just about speedboats, right
I consider the ending of this to be the most classic/the “ur” Miami Vice Freeze Frame ending. It’s perfect, because like. Yeah, sure, there could be a denouement, but... why bother? There’s nothing that can be said that hasn’t already been said, and nothing that can fix what has happened that wouldn’t utterly undermine the themes of the story. It just sucks! The system is corrupt! They failed because they were set up to fail! You can’t fix the justice system from inside the justice system! This is the theme of the series in one abrupt freeze!
Okay. Okay. So. If Don Johnson is to be believed, he got Bruce Willis either the role or the audition for the role here. And he knew him because Bruce Willis was a waiter at a restaurant he liked. Not to put my tinfoil hat on or anything, but I find it utterly hilarious that Phillip Michael Thomas and not Don “hey boss, I need you to give a job to this hot talented waiter I know” Johnson has a scene here where he and Bruce Willis feel each other up in a men’s room. Look up photos of DJ and Bruce Willis from the 80′s. Look at DJ’s face and tell me I’m wrong.

No no you’re so right about the batfam thing, I thought I was the only one here. They’re all so mentally ill and have seen so much shit, this gray area of taking care of you (but at the same time never attempting to cure you) is so on brand.
Reader: ok so can I just go over this again. I was a grown adult woman with a job and an apartment and my own arguably shitty life and I was even a vigilante
Dick: yep sounds right so far
Reader: and I had a run in with a villain and maybe almost died and in the end i got turned back into a kid
Jason: yeah it was real scary, Damian totally cried
Reader: and after I was a kid again and i couldnt remember anything 'from the future', you gave me a new place to live, you fed me, you housed me, you even registered me in school and I literally went to high school with you guys
Barbara: yeah and the teachers love you ^^
Reader: i would have nightmares and PTSD and then one or even several of you would sleep in the same room as me, Alfred learned all my favorite dishes, we literally took family vacations overseas, you took me to all kinds of doctors whenever I was worried about my hair or my skin or wasn't feeling well to make sure I was literally in perfect health and wouldnt worry, some of you call me your sister completely unironically, and you guys did all of that, all of that for like FIVE YEARS--
Damian: well of course
Reader: and you NEVER attempted to talk to Dr Fate or Zatanna or Mr Terrific or like literally anyone about how to fix this and turn me back to normal literally NOT EVEN one single time? And what the fuck, are these ADOPTION PAPERS?
Jason:
Dick:
Bruce:
Barbara:
The dog:
Alfred, being as brutally honest as ever: it never came into consideration, no
Reader: man, fuck you guys, I'm gonna see what that "Earth-3" dimension is like, maybe THEIR Batman isn't a complete freak 😒
But gosh you wanna talk about morally gray, I was thinking of something when I was watching those Jason clips yesterday and you know, depending on the movie, people were discussing how he literally had head trauma that also could have altered his mental state and i began thinking: what if Reader got a concussion and it eventually spirals into the Batfam basically turning it into one big convenient excuse
Like imagine Reader is, you know a member or extended member of the fam, whether as is or attached to that age regression amnesia idea, and a villain just, REALLY gets a good move in, maybe the Joker himself brings his good friend the crowbar back and you take a good swing to the back of the head, and you have, like, CONFIRMED head trauma, definitely concussed, maybe you even need surgery or treatment for a fractured skull. Just the entire Batfam crowded around your bed comforting you as you lay there in bandages feeling just so weak and helpless and sad 🥺 and maybe not just the concussion but also the resulting months of bedrest until you recover directly result in you needing physical therapy so you're also physically weaker than before
And this goes from "oh gosh Reader is forgetting things more often and her ability to think and focus has obviously changed, what if this is permanent, we better make sure we support her and keep her company and try to help her and make things as accessible as possible" developing to "clearly you are only upset with us because your concussion scrambles you up sometimes and you're more emotional than you were before and you're not always in the right state of mind. what do you MEAN you want to move out and The Mission is stupid and none of us are actually fixing anything, youve never said stuff like this before, that's ridiculous, clearly you're just having another overstimulated meltdown but that's ok, we know you're struggling and you're still our family so we'll make sure you stay here and stay safe 🥰"
And you know, the Reader character is all emotional and stuff, but as the IRL Reader thats one of those situations where you kinda go "well shit, she DID have a traumatic head injury, from the Batfam's perspective you COULD legitimately just be suffering from a concussion and these 'aren't your real feelings'" and it's super morally gray because like yeah, you've been hurt real bad, and maybe you're still recovering, and maybe you do legitimately have a somewhat, er, slightly diminished mental ability now, but that's all manifesting in "you're literally having to break out of the house just to get some time to yourself because youre trapped or have a constant babysitter and Batman himself drags you back kicking and screaming while he's gently scolding how you shouldn't be out there by yourself and that you have to be more careful because what if you got hurt 🥺"
And even if Reader's emotions weren't being affected at all like, it brings THEM some sort of fucked up closure to believe that you're just a little unwell and not, like, you hating them because 'they couldn't protect you' and it is arguably their fault you even got brutalized in the first place. Bruce just internalizing the extreme guilt he feels until it manifests into you basically being treated even MORE like, like some kind of bubble baby, constantly kept safe in your perfectly handcrafted little prison of 'a peaceful life'.
